그림으로 배우는 구동사 01

가끔 영화나 미드를 시청할때, 또는 외국인 친구와 이야기할 때 상대방이 정말 쉬운단어를 사용하는 것 같은데 무슨 이야기를 하는지 이해가 안되는 경우가 많다고 합니다.이유는 바로 원어민들은 대화시 구동사(phrasal verbs)를 사용하기 때문에 그렇습니다. 쉽게 이야기 하면 두개의 단어가 조합되면 전혀 새로운 뜻이되는 구동사를 사용하기 때문이죠.

구동사가 무엇이고 어떻게 사용되는지 그림을 보면서 유추하면 너무나 쉽습니다.

먼저 그림을 천천히 보시고 안내에 따라 왼쪽그림과 오른쪽 그림을 질문에 맞춰 한번 생각해 보세요.

서서히 윤곽이 잡히면  그림과 관련된 스토리를 읽고 이해하면서 사용된 구동사가 정확하게 무슨 뜻인지 유추하세요.

한국어로는 무슨 뜻인지 확인후 머리속에 쐐시를 박으세요.

왼쪽그림 유추하기: 

남자가 어디에 있나요? (Where is the man?)

남자는 무엇을 원하고 있다고 생각 하세요?( What do you think he wants to do?)

남자는 어느쪽 승강역으로 가야하는지 알고 있다고 생각 하나요?( Do you think he knows which platform to go to?)

오른쪽그림 유추하기:

남자는 누구와 이야기를 하도 있나요? (Who is he talking to?)

find out 어떤 뜻인지 어느정도 감이 잡히나요?

아래 그림에 대한 이야기를 보면 더욱 확실하게 감이 오실거에요.

스토리: Mr. Jones wanted to catch the train to london, He was late and he didn't know which platform the london train left from. He found out which platform by asking a ticket collector.

자 그럼 쐐기를 밖을 시간 입니다.

find out: 사실, 비밀, 주소, 시간,때,장소,누구.무엇 등을 알아내다.

look for.

왼쪽그림 유추하기: 

남자의 오른손이 지금 어디에 있나요?( Where is the man's right hand?)

왜죠? (Why?)

남자는 무슨 생각을 하고 있죠? (What is he thinking about?)

오른쪽그림 유추하기:

남자의 손은 지금 어디에 있나요?( Where is the man's hand now?)

스토리: Fred wanted to open his front door but he couldn't find his key. He looked for it everywhere. 'it's in one of my pockets.' he thought.

쐐기: 

Look for-주로 잃어버린 물건 또는 사람을 찾다.

왼쪽그림 유추하기:

왼쪽편 두 사람을 보세요. 부부라고 생각하시나요? (Look at the two people on the left. Do you think they are married?)

보이는 집은 두 사람의 것이라 생각 하세요? (Do you think it is their house?)

오른쪽에 있는 사람은 무엇을 하고 있나요? (What is the man on the right doing?)

무슨 직업을 가졌을까요? (What is his job?)

오른쪽그림 유추:

두 사람이 지금 집안에 있나요? (Are they inside the house?)

만약 이 집이 맘에 든다면 이들은 무엇을 할까요?( What are they going to do if they like the house?)

스토리: Mr and Mrs Smith wanted to buy a house. The estate agent took them to see a house in the center of town and said. "Look round the house and see if it's what you want."

쐐기박기: 집,동네, 공장, 전시회등을 방문해서 둘러보다.

남자는 지금 무엇을 하고 있나요?( What is the man doing?)

남자는 읽고 있는 책을 이해하고 있다고 생각하시나요? ( Do you think he understands what he is reading?)

오른쪽그림 유추:

남자는 지금 무엇을 읽고 있나요? (What is the man reading?)

왜? (Why?)

스토리: While Peter was reading he found a word that he didn't understand. 'This is a difficult word.' he thought.

 " I will look it up in the dictionary and see what it means."

쐐기박기: 단어, 전화번호,주소,기차시간 예정일 등을 전화번호부나 사전 또는 리스트를 통해 찾아보다.

남자는 지금 어디에 있나요? (Where is the man now?)

남자는 차를 구매하려 한다고 생각하세요? (Do you think he wants to buy the car?)

남자는 지금 무엇을 하고 있나요? (What is the man doing now?)

왜? (Why?)

오른쪽그림 유추:

남자는 무엇을 하고 있나요?(What is the man dong?)

왜?(Why?)

만약 차상태가 좋다면 남자는 무엇을 할까요?( If the car is in good condition what is the man going to do?)

스토리: Joe wanted buy a second-hand car. "That one looks good." he said to the salesman. " Give me some time to look it over. If it's in good condition, I will buy it."

쐐기박기: 자동차,집, 문서,의견 등을 관찰하고 시험해보다.

그림 유추하기:

바닥에 누워있는 남자에게 무슨일이 일어 났나요? (What has happened to the man on the ground?)

사망했나요? (Is he dead?)

유니폼을 입은 남자들은 누구인가요? (Who are the men in uniform?)

이들은 죽은 남자에게 어떤일이 있었는지 알고 있나요?( Do they know what happened to dead man?)

경찰은 사건경위에 대한 정보가 더 필요한가요? (Do the police want more information about what has happened?)

스토리: The police are looking into the death of Mr James. They want to know how he was murdered. They are looking for the evidences. They want to find the murderer.

쐐기박기: 상황,범죄,문제, 고발 등을 신중하게 조사하다.

자 구동사는 문법적으로 이해하는 부분이 아닙니다. 실제로 대화하면서 사용을 해야 합니다. 원어민들은 실제 대화에서 어려운 단어를 사용하기 보다는 심플한 구동사를 이용 한답니다. 구동사를 사용함으로써 여러분의 영어회화에 날개를 다시기 바랍니다.
